Audi - Times Square NYC
ATS hired as Technical Consultant to help Launch new Audi A7 Coupe in Times Square
For the launch of its new A7 Coupé, Audi is currently using a digital billboard on Times Square to lead a massive digital campaign. Using its slogan “A boldly designed car deserves a boldly designed world”, the carmaker’s campaign features seven New York locations that embody boldness in design. Passers-by who want to know more about a certain location can access a mini-guide via a QR Code, SMS or a URL displayed on the billboard. This mini-guide is hosted on a dedicated mobile web-site a7bolddesign.com (which also allows pedestrians to identify their location and find the shortest route to the area) as well as on Audi’s YouTube and Facebook pages.

The campaign also enables passers-by to participate in the activity by nominating their own suggestions. This can be done using the same digital channels mentioned above, plus via Twitter using the hashtag #BoldDesign. The best contributions are displayed on the billboard and are added to the mini-guide. Foursquare and Facebook Places users can also check in to the billboard and see their profile (name & photo) displayed on the screen. The interactive billboard concept was conceived and implemented by New York-based MediaCom USA. Its design, execution and digital extensions were done by ZAAZ and M80, Audi’s social media agencies.

Activate The Space was the Consultant and Technical Adviser to ZAAZ for the ~sedna presenter interactive implementation of the 4square and twitter feeds. ATS staff assisted the motion graphic team to make sure everything synced correctly across the 15000 square foot LED billboard and worked closely with Dave Taylor of American Eagle Outfitters AV team in testing and QC prior to launch.

This was all made possible because of the incredible flexibility that ~sedna presenter for the mac offers. It goes way beyond just digital signage. It is an incredible production tool for creating amazing video spectaculars. If you can think it ~sedna can do it easily with ~sedna.

Modell's Sporting Goods - Columbus Ave. NY
Stacks Image 9517
Activate The Space has completed its 2nd store location for Modell's Sporting Goods in NYC. This location is at Columbus Ave. in the upper west side of New York City.. ATS staff including designers, technicians and creative have designed and installed (2) 16 screen Video walls that are hung over (3) escalators that lead down from the street level to the store below grade more than 2 floors. The (32) 46" LCD's in the system are driven by sedna presenter and Apple Computers.

The site created some difficult challenges for the technical staff at Activate The Space. The escalators at this location bring you from street level down (2) stories underground. Using 30' ladders and staging was the only way to accomplish a very difficult installation of the (32) screens used in the (2) Video Walls. The screens were hoisted into place while ATS installation staff secured them to the custom Aluminum frame structure ATS built for this location. The screens were then mounted for a perfect alignment.

This project follows the (44) Screen project design and integration of the Modell's Sporting Goods Flag Ship Store in Times Square.

Walker Arts Center - Minneapolis

(2) Custom (2) Screen vertical mounted LCD's will be mounted in a 1x2 orientation being driven as (2) Video walls from Sedna Presenter. The Screens have been designed to accept a custom cover to conceal the screen bezels and sides.

Activate The Space is providing all of the software, Apple Computers, Samsung LCD's and the the custom framing and metal work and will install the entire systems by June of 2011.

The Walker Art Center is a catalyst for the creative expression of artists and the active engagement of audiences. Focusing on the visual, performing, and media arts of our time, the Walker takes a global, multidisciplinary, and diverse approach to the creation, presentation, interpretation, collection, and preservation of art. Walker programs examine the questions that shape and inspire us as individuals, cultures, and communities.

Formally established in 1927, the Walker Art Center began as the first public art gallery in the Upper Midwest. The museum's focus on modern art began in the 1940s, when a gift from Mrs. Gilbert Walker made possible the acquisition of works by important artists of the day, including sculptures by Pablo Picasso, Henry Moore, Alberto Giacometti, and others. During the 1960s, the Walker organized increasingly ambitious exhibitions that circulated to museums in the United States and abroad. The permanent collection expanded to reflect crucial examples of contemporary artistic developments; concurrently, performing arts, film, and education programs grew proportionately and gained their own national prominence throughout the next three decades. Today, the Walker is recognized internationally as a singular model of a multidisciplinary arts organization and as a national leader for its innovative approaches to audience engagement.

Adjacent to the Walker is the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, one of the nation's largest urban sculpture parks. When the Garden opened in 1988, it was immediately heralded by the New York Times as "the finest new outdoor space in the country for displaying sculpture." The Garden's centerpiece and most popular work is Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen's Spoonbridge and Cherry (1985-1988), which has become a beloved symbol of the Twin Cities. The Garden has demonstrated extraordinary appeal in the community, and is a vital force for bringing new visitors inside the Walker and building new audiences for contemporary art. More than 15,000 people attended the Walker's Rock the Garden concert and 15th-Anniversary celebration in June 2003.

Opened in April 2005, the new Walker Art Center, nearly double in size, includes increased indoor and outdoor facilities, allowing us to share more of our resources--from objects in the permanent collection to books in our library to an inside view of the artist's own creative process--with our growing audience. Increasingly, this ability to link ideas from different disciplines and art forms is seen as a model for cultural institutions of the future. A key aspect of the design is a "town square," a sequence of spaces that, like the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, draws people for informal conversation, interactive learning, and community programs.
